Force Sensors based on Skew-ray-probed Optical Fibers

Abstract

We demonstrate a bend-loss-based force sensor where pure skew rays can enhance its sensitivity by a factor of 3.8. We show a compression-loss-based force sensor that is stable against changes in the light launch-angle.
