Abstract

We use evolutionary strategy to design an irregular pulse-shaping filter to mitigate nonlinear distortion in fiber-optic transmission. Our optimized filter achieves greater than 0.2 dB gain over RRC Nyquist shaping with zero additional cost in computational complexity.
