Abstract

Fiber optic technique suitable for measuring the thermo-optic coefficients (TOC) of liquid samples is demonstrated. The fiber interferometer based on double cladding was utilized to simultaneously measure the refractive index of water and the surrounding temperature. The TOC of water at 1550 nm was obtained as about −1.485 × 10−4 RIU/ °C.
