Evidence of stress-state inversion induced by non-ablative femtosecond laser pulses in fused silica

Abstract

Femtosecond laser induces stress around laser-exposed areas. We report evidences of stress-state inversion between tensile and compressive stress while switching between continuous modifications and self-organized nanogratings, respectively.
