Abstract
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are ubiquitous and have potential environmental and health impacts. Here, we describe the fabrication of a surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) based substrate for the rapid detection of VOCs, with reduced exposure and spectral collection times. We demonstrate that characteristic SERS spectra of two VOCs can be obtained with short acquisition times after only 30 s of exposure to the neat liquid.
