Abstract

Some characteristics of holography such as the reference to object beam intensity ratio and the reconstruction efficiency have been discussed when the time-average recording is performed on a preexposed or postexposed medium. It has been found that the preexposure or postexposure and the object motion both result in an effective beam intensity ratio higher than the actual beam intensity ratio, and thus they help in the linear hologram recording without using an intense reference beam. By preexposure or postexposure, the reconstruction efficiency is decreased if it was optimized in the corresponding recording without preexposure or postexposure.
