Abstract

Fabrication techniques for graded refractive index fibers with SiO2–B2O3 composition are shown to be well controlled. The resulting fibers demonstrate both low loss (less than 3 dB/km) at 900 nm and 1060 nm and low dispersion (260 psec/km including 200-psec/km material dispersion) at 900 nm.
