Abstract

Instrumentation that allows direct recording of integrated band intensities from a double-beam spectrometer is described. A potentiometer is geared directly to the linear wavelength drive of the spectrometer and used to servo the chart drive of a strip-chart recorder so that a linear wavenumber scale is produced. A maximum scan of 2 μ is possible, the 2 μ being located at the operator’s discretion in the 4–18 μ range of the spectrometer. A logarithmic potentiometer has been incorporated into the recorder to convert the transmittance data into optical density units while the integration is carried out with a, continuous ball-and-disk integrator.
