Abstract

New relations are proposed for correlating the g parameter in the Henyey-Greenstein (H-G) equation for the phase function (angular distribution of scattered light intensity) with size and refractive index of pigment. The use of these relations in conjunction with the H-G equation generates a phase function similar to that given by the Mie theory equation. The utility of the new phase function has been established by evaluating Legendre coefficients and reflectance of paint film and comparing with those obtained by the Mie theory equation.
