Abstract

We present an experimental implementation of optical perfect shuffles on a two-dimensional plane of 64 channels based on a light-efficient one-copy algorithm. A hologram containing four subholograms used as a light deflector to realize the shuffling operation. The system is free from holographic aberration but is limited by diffraction effects. The diffraction-effects analysis shows that two-dimensional shuffles for more than 128 × 128 channels are possible with the system.
