Abstract

Color vision deficiency (CVD) is an inability or decreased ability to see color or perceive color difference under normal lighting conditions. In this paper, we propose the CVD compensation image processing method including backlight control algorithm for LCD display in order to give people real world color experience through display devices. We used a physiologically based anomalous trichromacy model which defines the cause of color vision deficiency as a shift of spectral response of LMS cones. In order to compensate for the shift in spectral response of L, M, and S cones, we used an inversesimulation matrix model. Proposed algorithm for compensation of CVD was simulated and verified by image processing tools.
