Abstract

The effect of linear dispersion on conversion efficiency in Raman beam combination of two-line XeF laser sources in H2 is discussed. Numerical simulations of multiline Raman conversion demonstrate phase compensation of the Stokes fields to the k-vector mismatch during amplification, which is shown to be a function of the gain of the system and degree of dispersion. Pumping in parallel- and crossed-beam configurations has been modeled, and beam cleanup is evaluated as a function of Fresnel number, injection angle, and pump-beam aberration. Gain saturation and interaction distance relative to the Fresnel number and cycles of the pump aberration are shown to be important parameters.
