Spotlight Summary by
Review of three-dimensional holographic imaging by multiple-viewpoint-projection based methods
A relatively new incoherent holographic technique, called multiple viewpoint projection (MVP) holography, for generating digital holograms of 3-D objects is reviewed in this paper. The goal of the novel method is to facilitate the design of a simple and portable digital holographic camera that can be useful for a variety of such practical applications as 3-D video acquisition, 3-D biomedical imaging, and 3D object recognition. One key feature of the paper is its use of Interactive Science Publishing (ISP). ISP allows authors to publish large 2-D and 3-D datasets with original source data that can be viewed and analyzed by readers. Readers are encouraged to explore this aspect of ISP upon reading the paper.
