360-degree large-scale multiprojection light-field 3D display system
The development of auto stereoscopic 3D imaging and display systems is a subject of great interest in a world that is progressing towards full interconnection. Among existing approaches, 3D light-field technology has the advantage of offering a glass-free solution in which viewers can see 3D intensity, polychromatic scenes with smooth motion parallax. In this paper, a large-scale multi-projection light-field 3D display system is proposed. The system can accommodate multiple viewers and provides both large 3D scenes and 360º viewing experience. To get this result, the authors have designed a wide-field lens to enlarge the image projection, proposed an auto-calibration method designed to eliminate distortions, and provided a method to efficiently distribute the display data. It is expected that this work will promote the popularity of multiuser 3D displays.
